Thrift Store by the Pound (Best thrift store in Mississauga for a real hunt)

Website
Location: 1515 Britannia Rd E Unit 19, Mississauga

When you want a thrift store with the least amount of curation this the is the place to go. Be prepared to spend a ton of time digging through buckets of clothing, books, linens and toys. But when all products are priced by the pound you can really score big. All apparel and shoes are $3.49/lb, Bags are $2.49/lb, Movies $0.50/lb and $1/lb for Video Games.

Goodwill Community Store

Location: 1224 Dundas St E, Mississauga

The Goodwill Community Store is large, clean and well-organized. Plus there are change rooms! Definitely a benefit when you can actually try clothes on before taking them home. Prices here are reasonable and there’s no tax.

The main downside is that there are no returns or exchanges allowed but that isn’t necessarily uncommon for thrift stores.

Mission Thrift Store Mississauga

Location: 3130 Dixie Rd, Mississauga

The Mission Thrift Store in Mississauga is well-organized, clean and has friendly staff. There is tons of furniture, it is quiet and never too crowded. Sometimes clothing is a bit overpriced but for housewares and furniture it is one of the best thrift stores in Mississauga.

One thing to watch our for at the Mission Thrift Store chains is that if you find an item with no price (or the tag falls off) then it is their policy to not sell if that day.

Talize Thrift Store (Best thrift store in Mississauga for clothing)

Location: 3100 Dixie Rd, Mississauga

The majority of the Talize Thrift Store is clothing but they also have a small selection of housewares, toys, games and books. Talize is also great for kids clothing because they actually hang them on the racks and have a huge selection. They have well-managed change rooms, a decent return policy and every day there is a “Manager’s Sale” for 50% off a specific category of items. Which is good to take advantage if you can because clothing prices can be a bit steep at times.

The best part about Talize is that they organize clothing and housewares by colour. Something about the organization makes it easier on the eye to browse.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store

Location: 1458 Dundas St E, Mississauga (Dixie)

This is the largest of the Salvation Army Thrift Store locations in Mississauga. It is also well-located as it is apart of the best intersection of thrift stores in the city. So if you are looking to hit up many shops in one day, this is one of the best places to visit.

Location: 89 Lakeshore Rd E #187, Mississauga (Port Credit)

This is the smallest of the three Salvation Army Thrift Store locations in Mississauga but it is the best. They have friendly staff, are well-organized and the stock tends to come from more affluent neighbourhoods.

Location: 261 Queen St S, Mississauga (Streetsville)

This is also a small location for the Salvation Army Thrift Store but depending on which neighbourhood you live in or are visiting it is worth a browse.

In conclusion

If you are looking to get the most bang for your buck on a thrifting day in Mississauga, definitely head to the intersection of Dundas and Dixie where you can find Goodwill, Talize, Value Village, the Mission Thrift Store and the Salvation Army Thrift Shop all in a 500m radius. When you have finished with Mississauga you might also want to venture to Hamilton for a full day of thrifting where there are quite a few more independent thrift stores to explore.
